Details from Author-it about what's included in the new release:

Localization is the key word for those operating in multiple markets and publishing to many languages. Author-it 6.4 brings further speed improvements to the Localization management process with the latest release of the Author-it Localize user interface. We’ve made sure that the "under the hood" code improvements were our focus 'front and center' in this release.

• The Locale Migration Tool (LMT) was next - with a goal of better keeping libraries in sync. We steamlined the database structure of the LMT to allow users to migrate to a single library. We look forward to working with you to more simply and efficiently migrate existing libraries to the new structure.

• As many of our users need to document 'User Interfaces' in software or hardware we're adding an updated Resource Translator that will allow you to easily use, synchronize and translate user interface strings in your documentation projects.

After making sure that the core code included the comments, fixes and suggestions made by users since our last release, we added the following new features:

• A new print publishing engine: PDF ProCSS. This update vastly improves the speed of PDF document rendering. Test users have experienced publishing time improvements of approximately 900% for large documents (1000+ pages).

• Users have asked for the ability to create new derivative and boilerplate Books from existing Books. Based on this feedback we've included this functionality in this version. In Author-it 6.4 you will have a new Book Generator function that will create a new book, reusing standard reusable components while automatically duplicating others for authoring.

• We've also made it possible to simplify the Author user-interface with the new HideUI plug-in. You can now remove buttons, tabs and contextual menu items for specific groups of users and streamline their Author-it experience.

• We've worked on making generating books easier with the inclusion of a new Editor Function, that allows for easier reusing of standard components and automatic duplication.

• At the request of many of you, we’ve renewed our Versioning technology to allow for parallel versions!

These are the "highlights" of the release; a comprehensive version of the release notes is available on our Knowledge Center. At the request of many of you, we’ve renewed our Versioning technology to allow for parallel versions!
